Third Week of Advent - Joy
This week has been all about shining our Light for Jesus. This week’s focus in worship has been all about St Lucy – Lucy meaning ‘light’ – and how she shone her light for Jesus despite all the opposition she experienced. Following Jesus, doing the right thing, is not always easy – but we strive to do this each and every day. Year 1 have been helped in this challenge through our Advent Calendar promises – each day we are trying to do something extra.
Second Sunday of Advent
Second Week of Advent - Peace
This week has been all about Advent. We have been thinking about the ways in which we can prepare ourselves to meet Jesus at Christmas. The Christmas preparations are wonderful, but have we prepared ourselves of the coming of Christ?
"It is the beautiful task of Advent to awaken in all of us the memories of goodness and thus to open doors of hope." Pope Benedict XVI

Second Sunday of Advent
I baptise you with water for repentance, but He who is coming after me is mightier than I, whose sandals I am not worthy to carry. He will baptise you with the Holy Spirit and fire. Matthew 3:11 John the Baptist had an important hope-filled message announcing what people could do to prepare for Jesus’ arrival. His message helps us today to live our journey of faith – the decisions we make about how we live and love today help us to live life to the full in God’s presence.

Jesus, King of Kings and Lord of Lords.
This week has been all about Jesus our King. On Sunday we celebrated the feast of Christ the King and the end of the Churches year, before the start of Advent this Sunday. Not only does this time of year provide us with a pause to reflect on what has gone by, it is also a chance to look forward and grow in our love for the Lord.
