Our learning this week…
In English the children have identified the key features of the model setting narrative and have planned and begun to write their own from images from our text.
In maths we have continued to develop our formal methods for multiplication using long mulptiplication of 2- digit by 4-digit and we've also been using formal methods for division.
In RE we have looked closely at the Beatitudes and made simple links between the Beatitudes and the Ten Commandments.
This week’s prayer and liturgy was planned and led by Cameron, Penny and Michael. Their liturgy was about the Beatitudes - Jesus teaching people how to live in God’s way.
In this scripture, Jesus sits down on a hillside and speaks to a large crowd. He teaches them the Beatitudes, which are special messages where Jesus explains that God blesses people who are kind, gentle, forgiving, peaceful, and who try to do what is right — even when it is difficult.
This reading helps us understand that being important to God is not about being rich, powerful, or popular. Instead, it is about how we treat others and what is in our hearts.
“Blessed are the poor in spirit, for theirs is the kingdom of heaven.”
Matthew 4:19

In science, we have begun our new unit on Living things and their habitats. The focus of this week's lesson was to describe the process of sexual reproduction in flowering plants.
In art, the children have continued to work on their 3D sculpture inspired by the work of Alberto Giacometti - some children have been using modroc and others have applied he finishing touches by painting.
During our history lesson, the children have looked at different evidence sources to make inferences about the Vikings to see whether the ideas conform to stereotypes.
In Spanish we have been practising naming different foods and drink.
In PE the children are working with PE specialist Max from Blackpool Football Club Community Trust. The focus of PE this half term is gymnastics.
