This Week's Worship
Kourtney and Olivia did not manage to lead their worship last week so they did theirs this week. Their worship reflected on the Gospel from last week when Jesus became angry in the temple. The girls had the class respond to ways in which we can welcome the Holy Spirit into our temples (hearts) by sending around praying hands for each child to write down one gift they could offer to the Holy Spirit. This was delivered so respectfully.
This Week's Learning
In Maths this week we have been focusing on ratio. We started looking at ratio language before introducing the ratio symbol and solving ratio problems. This then led us nicely to focusing on scale factors.
In English we completed our cyclone poems and even sent a copy home (sorry if they gave anyone nightmares!!) By the end of the week we were comparing the film and novel version of The Wizard of Oz, specifically the moment when Dorothy met the Scarecrow. This then led to us innovating a piece of descriptive writing about the scarecrow.
In RE we continued our focus on the women of the Old Testament. This week the class worked in groups to delve even deeper into the life of one of these woman. They had to create a presentation, outline the story behind the women, what the historical context was and what their relationship with God was like.
In PE with me this week we built on our gymnastic sequences from last week. We introduced rolls and jumps into out balance sequences and ensured they had smooth transitions, good control and straight lines.
In Science this week we created MRS GREN posters and labelled diagrams of the six different kingdoms. We looked at the similarities and the differences between each kingdom.
In Geography we researched some key information about the UK using the laptops and used atlases to help us to label many counties in the UK.
Mini Vinnies Fundraising
Well done to the Year 6 Mini Vinnies who had their first fundraising event for CAFOD today. They were selling baked goods and homemade bits and bobs all in aid of CAFOD. They gave up their own time to do this and for such a worthy cause. All together they raised an amazing £163.16!! Thank you to all our Mini Vinnies for their dedication to this event-what a success!
