In RE we started our new unit on ‘Jesus, the Messiah’. In this week’s lesson, we have been working in pairs to explore the question ‘How do we know that Jesus is truly human and truly God?’. Some of us have created PowerPoint presentations, whilst others have presented it as an information poster. We also made our Lenten promises. Lent is a time for self reflection and repentance. It’s a time for us to closen our relationship with God, as we prepare for the death and resurrection of His son, Jesus Christ. We wanted to make sure, therefore, that our Lenten promises were meaningful and achievable; not just empty words.
📚World Book Day!!📚
'There is more treasure in books than all the pirate's loot in Treasure Island.' Walt Disney
Yesterday we celebrated World Book Day. The class looked absolutely fabulous, dressed up as their favourite book character. Such a great effort!! In class we started the day watching a Wizard of Oz performance arranged by a small group of girls and boys in the class. They were brill! In the afternoon, we had a carousel of activities that we made our way around. There were five stations, which included: book mark making; book scavenger hunt; guess the book emoji quiz; read and relax and book word searches. We had such a fun afternoon immersing ourselves into the world of books. Reading is so important as it helps us to grow and develop in so many ways! From Today, our Lenten reading challenge will begin too; this will give the opportunity for us to read the same books so we can have a book club at the end of the term. We can have a biscuit and have a chat about what books we read and what we thought about them.
Here is what else we have been up to….
In Maths this week our focus has been on finding thr area of any triangle. We have also spent more time in our maths booster lessons focusing on the reasoning papers.
In English we have planned our independent write and have now started writing our narrative. We have used our guided write to help and support us with this. I cannot wait to read the completed pieces of writing next week!
In Science we continued with our topic on ‘Evolution and Inheritance’. This week we studied Charles Darwin and his theories on evolution and Natural Selection. We started to write a scientific report on this, which we will finish off next week..
In Art we designed, outlined and then painted our piece of sacred art, centred around the theme of HOPE. This lesson was lead by Mrs Ormerod, who is a very talented artist herself. First the class thought about what images, symbols and/or scripture passages they wanted to be the focal point of their art and they then used their artistic flair to transform this into an inspirational piece of sacred art.
