Sky Arts ‘Access All Arts’ Week

This week has been Arts Week in school. Access All Arts week is a nationwide, week-long celebration of the arts, specially designed for primary schools. This week we’ve been on a creative adventure on the theme of ‘Connection’ exploring how the children can connect to themselves, each other and the world around them, through the arts. Drawing inspiration from Mr Doodle, on Monday the children doodled their favourite things onto a landscape. Yesterday, the children had to pick one of the selected landscapes from the art gallery, and using Colour Cards, they mixed different colours and recreated the landscape with a different mood. Today, using a picture of Blackpool cut up into 28 pieces, the children have painted a piece of the cut-up landscape, experimenting with the colours they use. Next week, we will finish it off and collage it back together into a triptych. We’ve had lots of fun! 👩‍🎨🎨🖌️🖼️👨‍🎨

Our learning this week…

In English we have planned and started writing our own dilemma narrative.

In maths this week we have been adding fractions.

In RE we have been learning what the church teaches about other faiths.

This week’s prayer and liturgy was planned and led by Corben and Emelia. The theme of their liturgy was What is the Kingdom of God? Jesus helps us to understand these heavenly ideas by using down to earth stories - The Parable of the Growing Seed and The Parable of the Mustard Seed (Mark 4:26-34) . The children told that Jesus helps us understand that the Word of God (what the Bible teaches us) should produce a crop in our lives and it should change us. They challenged the class to think about the answer to…How can you let the Word of God change your life?

“What shall we say the kingdom of God is like?" Mark 4:30

In PE the children are working with PE specialist Erin from Blackpool Football Club Community Trust.

At Our Lady's we like to support our parents/carers in Online Safety matters.

Keeping children and young people safe online is one of the biggest challenges facing society today and it is all of our responsibility to ensure that children are educated to make positive, informed choices when they are online.

This month’s online safety guide gives helpful advice about…

What Parents and Educators Need to Know about Popups  This free information guide addresses the online safety risks of pop-ups, letting you know how to make children aware of this prominent marketing technique.

We hope you find this guide informative and helpful in promoting the positive use of technology to make the online world a better and safer place for us all.
