Edina Trust Bulb Project winner for England!!
As you already know, Year 5 were involved with the Edina Trust’s bulb project this year. During the year, we planted daffodil and crocus bulbs and were required to submit rainfall and temperature data daily and data for each bulb once it had flowered. We are delighted to have been picked as the winners for England and we will be able to use the prize money, up to the value of £500, to support science experiences in school. The data that we collected has been collated, alongside data from all the other schools that took part, to contribute to finding out the effects of climate change. Well done Year 5!
Our visit to St Mary’s
This week, Year 5 were given the opportunity to visit St Mary’s to experience what it would be like in High School. The children were put into six different groups to take part in different activities - a tour of St Mary’s, a Worship lead by their student chaplains, Science lesson on Space, geography lesson, PE session and a session where the children made their own Rosary beads. The children all enjoyed their visit and enjoyed working alongside other Year 5 children from other schools.
Thank you!
Thank you for contributing to the PTFA’s Summer Fayre collection with your generous contributions of bottles. The children all looked great today in their different colours and many of their favourite football teams were represented.

Our learning this week…
In English we have been looking at using dialogue to move the action on and to show character in readiness for our big write.
In maths this week we have been developing our understanding fractions as division.
In RE the children have been learning how to pray the Rosary and have explored the beliefs that are contained with the mysteries.
This week’s prayer and liturgy was planned and led by Connie and Zahra. This week we have been praying with the help of the saints. The reading comes from Mark 3: 35
"Anyone who does the will of God, that person is my brother and sister and mother."
The saints of the Kingdom are our brothers and sisters who have gone before us. We are united with them through our love for God and we learn about how to make God our number one priority through their example.
In art we have learnt about the contemporary artist Chris Ofili and have been developing our own work using his style.
In PE the children are working with PE specialist Erin from Blackpool Football Club Community Trust.
