Wow! Here we are again at the end of another half term. Can you believe we only have one more half term before we reach the end of Year 5? Time flies when you’re having fun! The children have all been working hard and certainly deserve their well earned break. Please do, however, encourage your child to read daily and make time for spellings and times tables - it’s really important to keep up with these so they continue to progress as we reach the end of Year 5 and get ready for Year 6. Happy half term everyone!

Swimming
Well done to all of Year 5 for their efforts in swimming this year so far. They’ve achieved so much already we thought we better give the certificates out. We will swim all next half term but there will be no swimming in the last week - instead they will have a swimming safety talk with one of the swimming teachers. ⭐️
Our learning this week…
In preparation for our English write, the children have created a mood palette for their chosen beast and have used their ideas to create relative clauses.
In maths this week we have been looking at comparing and ordering fractions and mixed numbers.
In RE the children have been thinking about the meaning of the Lord’s prayer.
This week’s prayer and liturgy was planned and led by Lily T, Olivia S and Olivia W. The girls’ liturgy celebrated Pentecost. After going up to heaven, Jesus sent His Holy Spirit to the disciples and all who believed. Their prayers echoed those of the first week of Eastertide and along with our other daily liturgies this week, they will help the children to grasp more deeply the reality and joy that Christ is alive and that the Holy Spirit lives within us and helps us. The girls’ challenged the children to think how the Holy Spirit can help them in their lives.
“Receive the Holy Spirit. If you forgive anyone’s sins, their sins are forgiven; if you do not forgive them, they are not forgiven.” John 20:22-23
In geography the children are working with Mrs Mannix and are continuing to work on latitude and longitude.
In PE the children are working with PE specialist Erin from Blackpool Football Club Community Trust. The focus of their lessons this half term is rounders.
