Good afternoon everyone,
On Thursday we marked the Feast Day of Saint Peter and Saint Paul, 29th June, by learning about these two men and what their lives teach us about the love of God. We learnt that mistakes are always forgiven and nothing is impossible if we have faith in the Lord. Read more about these two men here. St Peter & St Paul.
English - This week we have been researching jungle animals and have worked to record our research carefully and accurately. We used what we found out to plan our own non-chronological report on a specific animal and have begun to write these.
Maths - In Maths we finished our work on length and height by solving word problems and reading rulers with different scales and missing numbers. We then began our new unit which focuses upon data collection and explored and created tally charts.
Science - In Science we delved a little deeper into the properties of different materials. We were ‘pitched’ different items and had to decide which material to make these items from whilst explaining the properties that made them most suitable.
RE - We learned about Peter and John healing a lame man outside of temple. We thought about the significance of this miracle and what it tells us about God, Jesus and the Holy Spirit. We answered interview questions as Peter to explain our reasons and feelings throughout the story. We also learned how Peter was able to escape from prison with God’s help.
Geography - We explored some of the key physical features of Australia and learned some interesting facts about them.
PE - This week we practised our sports day activities and engaged in Just Dance due to poor weather.
Art - We continued with our Australia themed art by exploring Aboriginal dreamtime stories and the symbols used int hese.
Please continue to practise the Year 1 and 2 Common Exception Words - both reading and spelling!
Please practice learning the 2, 3, 5 and 10 times tables as later this half term we will be having times table tests on these.

We are very excited about our visit to Stanley Park on Friday. Thank you all for returning your permission and lunch slips so promptly. Here are some details about the trip to help you prepare.
We will set off from school at about 9.30am so please arrive to school as you normally would. We aim too arrive back to school at around 2.55pm so collection should be as normal as well (traffic permitting!).
For the trip your child will need:
a backpack which they will need to carry.
A waterproof jacket - This is an outdoors trip and we will need to be prepared to be outside, even if the weather changes.
Sun cream - Please apply sun cream in the morning before the trip but we ask that you pack an amount in case this needs topping up.
A sun hat or baseball cap to protect the children from the sun.
Please wear normal school uniform - PE kit and comfortable trainers would be preferable!
We may have time for ice cream so if you would like your child to have one, you can bring £2 in in the morning (no more than this please!)
Our wet play toys are becoming a little tattered and tired and we are in desperate need of something newer.
If you have any toys, games, figures or playsets that your child no longer uses or has outgrown that you are able to donate to us we would be incredibly grateful.
Thank you in advance!
At Our Lady's we like to support our parents/carers in Online Safety matters.
Keeping children and young people safe online is one of the biggest challenges facing society today and it is all of our responsibility to ensure that children are educated to make positive, informed choices when they are online.
This month's online safety guides give helpful advice about…
Amino - This free online safety guide analyses the social media network Amino, highlighting possible risks such as inappropriate content, gaps in moderation and compulsive use.
AI Virtual Friends - This online safety guide looks at ‘virtual friends’ – AI-powered companions that are proving popular with young people – and highlights what trusted adults need to be aware of.
OmeTV - This guide explores OmeTV –a social networking app that connects people from all parts of the world on randomly- generated video chats. It explores the app’s functions, its inherent risks, and how to address them as a parent or carer.
Money-muling - This guide profiles money muling, and highlights ways that trusted adults can help prevent young people to avoid being drawn into this illegal activity.
We hope you find these guides informative and helpful in promoting the positive use of technology to make the online world a better and safer place for us all.
