This week we have been talking about the coronation of King Charles III and what an important moment in history this is for our country. We have also talked about duty and how we all have an important role to play in making our Great Nation a safe and happy place to live. I hope you are all able to take some time to mark the coronation with your own families - Long Live the King!
English - we have continued on with our RWI lessons. During these sessions we all focus on phonics, reading, spelling and sentence development. We have also been working on our pre-cursive handwriting in which we focus on how to write our letters, starting on the line. We are continuing to work hard on our common exception words, reading them in class every day!
Maths - this week we have been working on making a fact family with the numbers from a part part whole…so writing 4 facts from three numbers, two addition and two subtraction. We then looked at how we can write 4 more by changing the position of the whole number. So 20=14+6 and 6=20-4. This proved a bit tricky at first but by the end of the week we had cracked it!!
RE - this week has been all about Jesus returning to His disciples, the joy that they were filled with and the things that bring us joy. An enlightening conversation!!!
Art - this week the children have continued their Sculpture Unit focusing in on the work of Patrick Heron and his hot and cold study.
Science - this week we continued our new unit all about Plants by focusing trees, evergreen and deciduous and the differences between the two.
Topic - this week we started our new Geography unit about the four countries that make up the UK. We continued this week by examining the geographical features of each of the four nations.
We have enjoyed an afternoon of coronation celebrations this afternoon! Everyone looked great in their red, white and blue clothes, the children enjoyed their lunch and in class we decorated a biscuit, made a royal crown and had a special coronation assembly lead by Mrs Mannix. (Please see photos below…more to be added next week)
