Well everyone, we made it through! With the love and strength of the Lord we have achieved the seemingly impossible and managed to home-school our children; hold down our jobs, run a full-time cafe/kitchen to feed everyone, fit in a daily walk and managed, just about, to keep our sanity in tacked. Aren’t we amazing! All joking aside, I know that this has been a really difficult time and none of the things that we have had to do were easy, but I really hope that you have also enjoyed spending this time with your wonderful children. Just like I did last time, I have relished this time at home with my daughter, having such an impact on her education and feeling more involved in her daily development. It has been a special time in so many ways and I thank God for the opportunities that I have been presented with.
I know that for some many of us, a return to some sort of normality, will provide a welcome relief….but we must all be on a guard to ensure that we keep each other safe in the days, weeks and months ahead to ensure that our Year 1 bubble and school remains open to all. It is essential that we all keep to social distancing measures, wear a mask when on school grounds, wash our hands constantly and stick to the one way system on the yard - coming in by the small gate on Common Edge Road and going down the drive and out on the Thornhill Crescent side. Please ensure that you keep to your drop off and pick up times - see Miss Haggerty’s post on this. We must all work together to keep one another safe.

With this message in mind, please ensure that if your child is unwell, you keep them off school and arrange a test. We will continue to screen children in school and if we think they are unwell or the children complain of feeling unwell, we will be sending them home for a test to be arranged before they can re-enter school. As the virus changes, the symptoms that we have to keep an eye for are also changing. It is no longer just a case of a cough, fever or change in taste/smell - please keep an eye out for the following symptoms……
All staff will continue to do TWO COVID tests each week, so please be mindful that things in school COULD change with very short notice. Everyone needs a back up plan in case our bubble has to close with little notice. In the event of our Bubble having to close, we will revert to Home Learning set through the HOME LEARNING page and work sent in through CLASS DOJO.
Year 1, Mrs Veasey, Miss Collins and I are just so VERY proud of all of you for how hard you have worked at home and in school over the past eight weeks. For those of you at home, your Class Dojo Portfolios look amazing and are a super record of all you have done at home during lock down. For those of you who have been at school, your books and folders look super too!! I am amazed by all your dojo points too…
100 dojo points or more…..Aibhin, Alexander, Conleth, Charlotte, Ellenie, Gabriel, Hallie-Jayne, Luna, Olivia, Stephen, Sara, William.
200 dojo points or more….Eleena, Emily, Florence, Jacob, Matilda, Nevaeh, Zachary, Laura.
300 dojo points or more….Martha, Willow.
Well done Year 1 - look at what you have all achieved; you are all my super stars!!
Thank-you all so very much for everything you have done to support the children, and me, over the past eight weeks. This was always going to be a team effort and I will never be able to thank-you enough for all that you have done. I am humbled by your hard work, dedication and love for your children. How lucky they are. I am so proud of what the children have done at home and that is all thanks to you.
I would also like to take this opportunity to say a massive THANK-YOU to my wonderful teaching assistants, Mrs Veasey and Miss Collins, without whom none of this would have worked. Mrs Veasey and Miss Collins have supported the children in school to ensure that, whether at home or at school, the children had the same opportunities to continue with their learning. Miss Collins has been in school each day throughout this school shut down and Mrs Veasey and I have split the week between us to ensure that I could be at home to actually plan all the home learning and respond to Class Dojo. I always knew they were both amazing - but now I have the proof!! Thank-you so much ladies - another great team effort.
And finally…..if your child does have to self isolate, then you will continue to use the HOME LEARNING page where work will be set each Friday for the following Monday and send that work in through Class Dojo. This is only to be used if your child is self isolating. Many thanks. https://ourladyassumption.squarespace.com/yr1-home-learning/2021/3/3/self-isolation-8-12321
Have a lovely weekend….stay safe and we look forward to welcoming all our children back to school on Monday. It will be lovely to have our Year 1 family back together again.
