Good morning Year 1! I hope you all had a lovely weekend and managed to enjoy the lovely weather.
May I start this week with saying a massive THANK-YOU to all you parents who are doing a wonderful job at home teaching your children - I may soon be out of a job! I am amazed by the work you are sending me each week through email of class dojo - it is a real pleasure to see what the children are up to and how they are getting on. I miss seeing their little smiling faces each day; at least this way I still get to see them through their work, pictures and videos. Thank-you.
Welcome to Week 5….
Maths - I hope you have enjoyed the White Rose Maths materials that I placed on the blog last week. The would like you to continue with these lessons and activities this week, so onto Week 2. This week we are looking at capacity and grouping. Please follow the link below.

English - Please continue to use the Pie Corbett materials form last week - that was intended to be a two week project. Plus, daily reading, phonics practice, handwriting, spelling of the Common Exception words and using the tasks from Week 5 Plans - see below.
Geography - along with using the Oddizzi site, I have attached their challenge for this week - Weather and Climate.
Don’t forget the activities set on Education and SumDog - challenges and activities are set on these sites weekly.
Please see the daily prayers that Miss Haggerty is placing on the General page - they are a lovely way to bring prayer into your home during these challenging times. Also, Fr Jim has lovely Children’s Liturgy activities available on his pages.

As always, please just do what you can. I don’t want you to feel overwhelmed by the amount of work that I am suggesting, but neither do I want you to be at home with no guidance as to what the children would be doing if they were at school! It is a tricky balance.
Please post pictures of the children’s work on the Class Dojo site - looking at that is the highlight of my day!
Year 1 - remember to read each day, try your best, enjoy the fresh air and talk to God in your heart and tell Him what you are up to. Mrs Veasey and I are so proud of how hard you are working at home and we cannot wait until we have our little class family back together again.
Ge good, work hard, stay safe.
Mrs Hollinghurst and Mrs Veasey
