Our learning this week…

In English the children have continued to write creatively using figurative language - similes and metaphors.

In maths we have been developing our formal methods for multiplication using short and long mulptiplication of 2- digit by 2-digit and 4-digit by 1-digit.

In RE we have identified the petitions contained within the Our Father prayer

This week’s prayer and liturgy was planned and led by George, Amara and Elsie. In their liturgy, they told the story of the beginning of Jesus’ work and how he calls his first followers.

In this story, Jesus started travelling from place to place, teaching people about God’s love and helping those who were sick or struggling. He also called ordinary people, like fishermen, and asked them to follow him and help spread his message. Jesus said,

“Come, follow me and I will make you fishers of people.”

Matthew 4:19

Jesus calls each of us to follow him. We can follow Jesus through our words and actions — by being kind, welcoming others, and helping those in need.

In science, the children have been investigating how levers, pulleys and gears allow a smaller force to have a greater effect.

In art, the children have continued to work on their 3D sculpture inspired by the work of Alberto Giacometti  - some children have been using modroc and others have applied he finishing touches by painting.

During our history lesson, the children have been looking maps to see where Vikings came from and travelled to. They've also been thinking about stereotypes and their first impressions of Vikings.

In Spanish we have been practising naming different foods and drink.

In PE the children are working with PE specialist Max from Blackpool Football Club Community Trust. The focus of PE this half term is gymnastics.

The BEBCMAT Rock Stars Super League has a new competition, which started on Monday and runs till the 12th February. Good luck everyone!

At Our Lady's we like to support our parents/carers in Online Safety matters.

Keeping children and young people safe online is one of the biggest challenges facing society today and it is all of our responsibility to ensure that children are educated to make positive, informed choices when they are online.

This month’s online safety guide gives helpful advice about…

What Parents and Educators Need to Know about Mental health misinformation online This #WakeUpWednesday guide explores how adults can support children and young people to recognise and challenge mental health misinformation online.

We hope you find these guides informative and helpful in promoting the positive use of technology to make the online world a better and safer place for us all. Thank you.
