Well done, Year 5!
This week you should all be proud of yourselves for preparing and sharing your presentations with the class. Choosing your own subject, getting ready at home, and then standing up to speak in front of others is not an easy thing to do — especially when you’re feeling nervous.
What really stood out was thebravery and effort shown by everyone who stood up and had a go. Some of you spoke clearly and confidently, some shared interesting facts, and others challenged themselves just by standing at the front and speaking at all. Every presentation showed learning in a different way.
I was also very impressed by the way you listened respectfully and supported one another. Sitting quietly, paying attention, and showing encouragement takes effort too, and you should be proud of how kind and mature you were as an audience.
Remember, presenting is a skill that takes practice. Not everything needs to be perfect the first time — that’s how we learn and improve. What matters most is that you took part and are working towards becoming more confident presenters. Well done!

Our learning this week…
In English the children have created a mood palette of words and phrases from one of the illustrations from our new text, FArTHER and then we used these to create our own alliteration poems inspired by the images.
Our focus in maths has been subtracting fractions including from mixed numbers.
In RE we have begun looking at the Transfiguration.
This week’s prayer and liturgy was planned and led by Jessie and Matilda. In their liturgy, they shared the Word where Jesus goes to the River Jordan where John the Baptist is helping people turn back to God and make a fresh start. When Jesus is baptised, something amazing happens: the heavens open, the Holy Spirit comes down like a dove, and God’s voice says, “This is my Son, whom I love.”
This scripture helps us understand that Jesus is chosen by God, loved deeply, and ready to begin his mission of teaching people how to love, forgive, and care for one another. It also reminds us that we are loved by God too, just as we are.
“This is my Son, whom I love.”
Matthew 3:13-17
In art the children have started creating their 3D sculpture of their chosen figure, inspired by the work of Alberto Giacometti that they drew last week, using dowling.
During our history lesson, we created a timeline of the Vikings and discovered where they originated from and where they went to.
In Spanish we have begun our new unit on the cafe..
