Dear Parents and Carers,

Thank you so much for joining us for our class prayer and liturgy today. It was really special to share this reflective time together, and the children were so proud to have you with us.

As we come to the end of this half term, the children have been busy rounding off lots of their learning across the curriculum.

English

In English, the children have written fantastic explanation texts about How to Capture the Iron Man. They also created labelled sketches of their designs. It was wonderful to see their enthusiasm and creativity shine through in their writing.

We have also read three books in this first half term, Fantastic Mr Fox, Danny the Champion of the World and The Iron Man. The children have enjoyed sharing this story time and we will keep reading next half term!

Maths

In maths, we have been working on adding ones, tens, and hundreds to three-digit numbers. After half term, we’ll be extending this learning to explore addition and subtraction where more than one digit changes.

Science

The children completed their end-of-unit assessment on Animals, including Humans and did brilliantly! They have shown a strong understanding of the topic and can now explain the importance of eating a balanced diet and the roles of different nutrients. They can also name some of the bones in our body and explain their function.

History

In our history lessons, we brought our Iron Age topic to a close by learning about trade and how important it was for different tribes. The children have enjoyed exploring how life changed from the Stone Age through to the Iron Age.

This has been the longest half term of the school year, and the children have worked incredibly hard. The transition from infants to juniors is a big step, and they have handled it beautifully. We are so proud of all they have achieved.

We wish you all a restful and happy half term break, when it arrives after school on Friday — the children have certainly earned it!

The children return to school on Tuesday 4th November.

At Our Lady's we like to support our parents/carers in Online Safety matters.

Keeping children and young people safe online is one of the biggest challenges facing society today and it is all of our responsibility to ensure that children are educated to make positive, informed choices when they are online.

This month’s online safety guide gives helpful advice about…

What Parents & Educators Need to Know about Memes.  Memes may seem like harmless fun, but they can carry hidden risks. This guide explores how meme culture affects young people - from misinformation to inappropriate content and digital footprints.

We hope you find these guides informative and helpful in promoting the positive use of technology to make the online world a better and safer place for us all. Thank you.
