In RE this week we started the lesson reflecting on the words from Gensis, 'God created mankind in His image'. We understand that this means that God loves us all the same and knows us all by name. He wants us all to live our lives living out the values of the Kingdom of God. We then went on to looking at the Fall of humankind, and the origin of sin. We analysed the actions of Adam and Eve in the Garden of Eden and how they reflect the actions of all humanity. We then likened these actions to our own lives and when we may have been tempted to do wrong, and perhaps struggled to take accountability.
A group of 8 pupils from Year 6, along with Mrs Owen, went to conference at BFC 'Show Racism the Red Card'. This was an educational event aimed at encouraging pupils to address race, equality and stereotyping. This campaign also provided a vital opportunity to encourage understanding, challenge prejudice, and promote unity. The representatives from our class did us proud and fed back to the class this afternoon. This linked in beautifully with what we had discussed in RE that 'God created us in His image'...regardless of skin colour, God love us ALL!
Here is what we have been up to this week…
In Maths we have been looking at fractions, fractions and more fractions! We started the week finding equivalent fractions and simplifying fractions and we ended the week comparing and ordering fractions.
In English we have written our independent biographies. We spent our English lessons planning, drafting and editing our writes. Some of us started to copy up our final drafts, ready to be displayed.
In History our focus was on using historic censuses to see how they changed and evolved over time. We used a case study of Evelyn Dover, and compared her 1911 census to her 1921 census...what was different? What was the same?
In Science we write up our analysis and conclusions for our gummy bear investigations. We explained, using scientific vocabulary, why the gummy bear in the tap water absorbed the most water and why the one in the salt water absorbed the least.
In HRSE the children who went on the anti-racism conference had the opportunity to feed back to the class on what lessons then had taken away from the day-they did a superb job of this. We then linked this in with our RE and how everyone is deserving of love and to be treated fairly. We wrote a refelction on this for our Worship display.
Shared Worship..
Thank you to Leo, Stephen and Natalia for leading our class shared worship this week. They reflected on the Gospel reading this week about the mustard seed. It link with our faith and no matter how big or small it is, God works through us and wants our faith to grow.
Mini Vinnies
This week the Mini Vinnies from St. John Vianney come to our school to talk to a group of children from Year 6, who have shown an interest in joining Our Lady's Mini Vinnies. This is a religious group that will contribute heavily to the Catholic ethos of our school and this of ways to help not only our school, but the wider community. They will meet weekly with Mrs Allen. Those who have shown interest have come hom with a letter of application form that they will need to write to Mrs Allen, to detail why they think they would make a good Mini Vinnie. Please return these to Mrs Allen ASAP.

Our Lady's Online Safety
Keeping children and young people safe online is one of the biggest challenges facing society today and it is all of our responsibility to ensure that children are educated to make positive, informed choices when they are online.
This month’s online safety guide gives helpful advice about…
What Parents & Educators Need to Know about FC26. This online safety guide explores EA FC 26 – the latest edition of the immensely popular football game. It flags potential risks, including in-game purchases, scams, and exposure to strangers via voice chat.
We hope you find these guides informative and helpful in promoting the positive use of technology to make the online world a better and safer place for us all. Thank you.
