This week in RE we have been continuing our work on ‘The Kingdom of God’. After looking at some of the values of the Kingdom of God, we then responded to the question Is the Kingdom of God in heaven? If not, where can I find it? We quickly realised that the Kingdom of God is not just in heaven, it is here on earth and it starts within us and grows the more we do good deeds. We focused on some of Jesus’ parables that he used to explain God’s Kingdom and referenced these to support our responses. We also looked at what Pope Francis had to say, highlighting the importance that the Kingdom of God is hidden within us like a seed in the ground, which grows and becomes great by the power of the Holy Spirit. I was really inspired by what the class had to share when we talked about how we could help the Kingdom of God to grow through the things we do every day. The class have decided to spread the word through different mediums in order for them to have a positive impact on their community.
Here is what else we have been up to this week…
In maths we have been looking at dividing numbers up to 4 digits by 2 digits using different methods and then solving word problems alongside missing digit problems.
In English we have continued to look at a dairy entry by Rose Blanche and have analysed the features the author has used to engage the reader. We then applied this knowledge to our writing so that we included emotive language, adverbials, parenthesis and a variety of punctuation. Our diary entry was from the perspective of a young boy we tried to escape capture. They are looking good!
In History we have continued to look at the Battle of Britain and today we investigated the disadvantages and advantages that both the RAF and the Luftwaffe faced.
In science we have begun to investigate the function of the heart and how the blood travels through this amazing organ.
We celebrated European language by taking a trip around Europe - investigating languages, culture and puzzling out from clues which country we had landed in.
