This Tuesday 8th February marked Safer Internet Day. The theme for this year was all about being respectful and responsible when we are online. I am aware that more and more children in Year 6 are communicating online now, so this was an extremely relevant and important lesson. We looked at different online scenarios that might have a negative impact on the way we feel and discussed what emotions they could evoke. This then lead us onto problem solving and knowing what to do if anything every does upset us or worry us, when we are online. Please take this opportunity to talk to your child about being safe, respectful and responsible online. We watched a short video all about the ways we can be safe, respectful and responsible online and made our own posters to share with others…
Here’s what else we have been up to this week….
In Maths we have been plotting and reading coordinates in all four quadrants.
In English we have completed and edited our independent narrative. I will now have chance to read over all of these, ready for our Spring 2 targets-I can fill all parents in on these on Parents’ Day!
In RE we thought about some questions that we found difficult to answer, and had our friends respond to these questions too. It was lovely to be able to compare each others’ responses.
In Science we were researching famous scientist, linked in with our current topic ‘Evolution and Inheritance’.
In Geography we were looking at some topographical features in the UK. We researched and labelled the rivers and seas in all four countries.
In Spanish we were writing full sentences using singular and plural forms of the animal names we learnt last week.

This week’s Golden Award went to Elliot for settling back in so well at Our Lady’s-he has worked so hard this week!
