Yesterday we went to mass to celebrate the Feast of the Ascension. Year 5 took their buddies to mass and supported them throughout. Father Frank reminded us that the Good News is that Jesus loves us and we should live our lives by being kind, caring and loving towards others. After mass, Father Frank visited our class and congratulated the children on being great role models - it’s so lovely to see that others are noticing the great job their doing. Well done Year 5!

Pop Idol 🎤🎶🎶🤩

Well done to Lilly who took part in the Blackpool Schools’ final for Pop Idol yesterday. She gave a lovely confident performance and both Mia and Olivia were there to cheer her on - thank you girls. A big well done to Willow in Year 4 too! Mrs Parker and I were so proud of both of them, they performed beautifully!

Times Tables Rock Star Battle

Well done to all the children who took part and congratulations to Clifton who maintained their lead in the Times Tables Rock Star Battle! ⭐️👏🏻

Our learning this week…

In English we have identified effective verbs and adverbs within our text and the children have explored alternatives. We’ve also identified contrasting characters within the text and conveyed these differences through dialogue.

In maths this week we have been working on changing improper fractions to mixed numbers and vice versa.

In RE the children have been thinking about the meaning of the Resurrection and what it means for us.

This week’s prayer and liturgy was planned and led by Oscar and Henry. Their liturgy was on the theme of The Ascension when we remember how Jesus was honoured by God and taken up to heaven. We also remember the instructions Jesus left His disciples: to share the good news and do incredible things through the power He would give. The Gospel reading is taken from Mark 16:15-20

“After the Lord Jesus had spoken to them, he was taken up into heaven and he sat at the right hand of God,” Mark 16:19

In geography the children are working with Mrs Mannix and are continuing to work on latitude and longitude.

In computing this week the children have used Sonic Pi to program a piece of themed music.

In PE the children are working with PE specialist Erin from Blackpool Football Club Community Trust. The focus of their lessons this half term is rounders.
