Our learning this week…
In English we’ve been looking at an exploration narrative, which the children will use as a model for their own writing. The children have investigated new vocabulary and they’ve also been looking at descriptive phrases to describe the moon and the Earth to write their own contrast poem.
Our focus in maths has been exploring Roman numerals and we’ve now started on working with numbers up to 1,000,000.
In RE the children have been working with Mrs Mannix on the Creation story.
This week’s prayer and liturgy was planned and led by Aibhin and Alexander. The theme of their liturgy was I will trust. In this week’s Gospel, Jesus welcomes children despite others trying to keep them away. Jesus commends the open-heartedness of children and we learn how trusting God completely, at all times and without fail, can lead to peaceful, loving decisions. Aibhin and Alexander then asked the children to think about how they will show their trust in Jesus.
“Let the little children come to me” Mark 10:14
In science we have been learning about the movement of the moon relative to the Earth. The children have learnt about the phases of the moon and have made a moon dial to help them with their moon watch over the next month.
In geography the children have been using an atlas to identify where Blackpool is in the World, in Europe and in the United Kingdom. The children have also been identifying European countries.
In Spanish we are continuing to focus on greeting each other and developing our knowledge of counting.
In art we continued to develop our work on Hundertwasser .
In PE the children are working with PE specialist Charlie from Blackpool Football Club Community Trust. The focus of their lessons this half term is all about leadership and being a good buddy to develop their skills for their role as play leader.
Our school is currently in 6th place out of 12 schools in the trust. We have 711 points.

Keeping children and young people safe online is one of the biggest challenges facing society today and it is all of our responsibility to ensure that children are educated to make positive, informed choices when they are online.
This month’s online safety guide gives helpful advice about…
What Parents & Educators Need to Know about In-game chat This free guide details the online safety concerns associated with in-game chat functionality, and lets you know how to protect young players from these risks.
We hope you find these guides informative and helpful in promoting the positive use of technology to make the online world a better and safer place for us all. Thank you.
