So, here we are at the end of another term! The children have all been working really hard and have achieved so much this half term - an outstanding Shakespeare performance at the Grand Theatre, achievements in Bikeability, completed Lenten challenges and much more - and I continue to be so incredibly proud of every one of them. Take a look below at what the children have been up to this week and their achievements. I hope that over the Easter holiday you are all able to enjoy some down time and have a wonderful, happy and Holy Easter with your families.

We said goodbye to our ducklings 😢…
Sadly, the ducklings have now gone to their new home on a farm where they will be able to wander freely with other ducklings. We’ve really enjoyed watching them grow and get to know them and we’re really going to miss them as they all have such loveable characters.
Our learning this week…
In English we have been identifying cohesive devices within the Greek myth and we’ve been writing and punctuating complex sentences using -ing and -ed opening clauses.
In maths the focus of our work has been fractions: changing improper fractions to mixed numbers and vice versa, fraction number sequences and comparing and ordering fractions less than 1.
RE - In the parable of the Lost Son (the prodigal son), the children have identified the important message and have explored who the Father and the Son represent and what the the story tells us about them.
In our Science lesson this week the children have been researching the life cycle of a duck and we tracked the growth of our ducklings over the last two weeks.
In our Bounce Forward sessions (PSHE), the children have been considering who their ordinary heroes are and how they are part of their support circle. They also invented their own Super Friend and identified the qualities they would wish for in a Super Friend.

Book Lent challenge complete!
I am so delighted with all of Year 5 this week for completing their Lent challenge book. I’ve been delighted with how Year 5 rose to the challenge over the last half term. It’s been wonderful to see how enthused they’ve been and I’m impressed with how many children have read more than one of our challenge books.
This morning each group sat together over a celebratory cake so that we could talk about the book we had read. It was really lovely to chat about the book and share our thoughts and opinions. Well done Year 5, I’m so proud of you all!
