On Thursday we had our first class mass over at church with Father Loughran. Father Loughran talked about the special job that Mary had been asked to do and how Angel Gabriel had said, “Do not be afraid”. He told the children how important it is to say yes to God and that God wants us to do good things and we shouldn’t be afraid either. It is the children’s challenge to try to say yes to God and to realise the joy that comes from saying yes. The children all behaved so respectfully in church and our readers read so beautifully. Well done Year 5, we were so proud of all of you!
Our learning this week…
In English we’ve been exploring themes in poetry and in small groups the children have written a group poem based on a secret theme. The children then performed their poem and the rest of the class had to guess the theme of the poem.
In maths the children have been reading and interpreting line graphs.
In RE the children have explored the covenant that God made with Noah and have considered what their part in the covenant is.
In Science we have continued to identify forces acting on objects.
In Computing the children have created a pixel picture inspired by Mars/Mars Rover/Space using Excel.
In art the children have continued with our Space theme to prouduce chalk drawings of the planets.
In PE the children worked on choreographed circular movements to imitate the movements made by the planets in our Solar system.
