Well what a wonderful end to a great term! I am so proud of Year 5, they’ve worked so hard and have really shone their lights this Advent…
The children finished their moon buggies! I am so impressed with how hard they all worked and more impressed with the maturity they all showed, working in their teams supporting each other and with good cooperation and collaboration.
Our Reading Champions…
Well done to our reading champions this half term who all completed bookmarks for reading regularly at home. Reading is so important and I ask parents to please encourage your child to read regularly at home (at least 20 minutes per day) and get their diary signed. Next half term I would like to see the whole class receiving certificates for their reading and completing more quizzes for books they have finished.
For those children who do read regularly, golden tickets are given out and then we do a draw at the end of each half term. Well done to Grace and Lily who are our golden ticket winners and have won themselves a trip to Ascent trampoline park.
Thank you to parents and grandparents who were able to join us in church for our KS2 Carol service. The children made us all proud with their wonderful acting, readings and, I’m sure you will agree, they all sang so beautifully - we really do have so many talented young children. Well done Year 5 and the rest of KS2!
Our new resilient moves challenge:
To get some fresh air and exercise over Christmas. (Perhaps you could go for a bike ride or a walk along the promenade. After Christmas letters will be coming out regarding Bikeability in March for competent riders - there are only 18 places.)
To play a game or take up/do a new or existing hobby.
Any photographs of the children doing these resilient moves will be put together in a showcase to share on here.
Our awards…
Golden award - It was so difficult to choose one person to receive this award this week as Year 5 have just made me burst with pride at how hard they have all worked right up till the end of term. So, this week I have awarded all of Year 5 this award as I feel they are all deserving of it. Well done Year 5!
Writing award - Sophie received this award for her NOT a fairy tale story in the style of Jeremy Strong - good use of parenthesis, great humour (It really did make me laugh!) and non-stereotypical characters. Well done Sophie!
Maths award - Well done to Audrey who showed great work comparing and ordering decimal numbers.
Mrs McCooey and I would like to take the opportunity to thank you very much for all the lovely cards and generous gifts and we wish you a wonderful Holy Christmas and a great start to the New Year.
