This quote from St Francis of Assisi spoke to me as I was thinking about what I wanted my key message to you all to be this week…..we are all achieving the impossible, one tiny step at a time. You may not feel like it, I know I certainly don’t some days, but we are! I am in awe at the standard of work that Year 1 are managing to achieve at home and that is down to the wonderful support that they are receiving from their truly amazing parents. So please, be kind to yourselves and tell yourself what a great job you are doing. I can see that the children at home are happy; safe and working hard and I couldn’t ask for anything more. The children in school are also doing very well and coping with the different routine and reduce numbers. Children are incredibly resilient and tend to take most things in their stride; it is us that struggle with change and uncertainty. I am so very grateful for all that you have done over these past five weeks to support the children and me - look at what we have achieved together!! Once again, thank-you so very much.
Tuesday 9th February marks Safer Internet Day - a day we always mark in school with assemblies and lesson activities. This year, more than ever, as the children spend so much more time on line it is vital that we address the issue of keeping safe online. This year is the theme is all about ensuring that the facts that we read online are true and how we can make sure that we are reading is indeed the truth. Please see the lesson activities added to the HOME LEARNING page for Tuesday and try to make time for this important lesson and discussion at home next week. Many thanks. https://ourladyassumption.squarespace.com/yr1-home-learning/2021/2/3/home-learning-8-12221

And finally……
Please contact me through Class Dojo or email (year1@our-lady.blackpool.sch.uk) if you need anything and I will do my best to help. I continue to be in school on Monday’s and Tuesday’s, with Mrs Veasey in class the rest of the week, so I may be a little slower in getting back to you on those days that I am in school. Please do what you can to keep your child at home - see Miss Haggerty’s post on the need to reduce the numbers of children in school where possible. https://ourladyassumption.squarespace.com/news/2021/1/11/sometimes-you-have-to-take-a-step-back-to-move-forward
HOME LEARNING will be posted in the Home Learning section of the website by lunchtime on a Friday so that it is ready for the week ahead. It is now a government expectation that work is sent into teachers - please send work to me by 12pm on a Friday — or daily if you prefer. (Daily does actually help me to keep on top of it!) I will need to follow up on any children I do not hear from - so please do what you can to post your child’s work in the Portfolio section of Class Dojo - this keeps it all together and makes a lovely folder of all your child’s work during lockdown. I must say that the children’s folders are looking super. Thank-you so much. https://ourladyassumption.squarespace.com/yr1-home-learning/2021/2/3/home-learning-8-12221
Keep safe - stay at home. It is in working together that we show our strength.
Year 1…Be good, work hard, stay safe and know that Mrs V, Miss C and I are very proud of you and we miss you. xxx
Thank-you…..Mrs Hollinghurst, Mrs Veasey and Miss Collins
