Just as the living Father sent me and I have life because of the Father, so also the one who feeds on me will have life because of me. This is the bread that came down from heaven. Jn 6:57-58a
Good Morning Year 1……Welcome to a new week of Home Schooling.
Last week, 11th June, we celebrated the Feast of Corpus Christi and as I was looking for a lovely quote to start this week’s blog I came across what you see before you and it really touched my soul. I don’t feel very calm at the moment, but I am trying to place my fears into the hands of Our Lord, knowing that He will take care of me as a Father. I hope you can find comfort in the strength of the Lord and the knowledge that you are a beloved child of God.
English - this week we continue with the second week of the Pie Corbett Talk for Writing plan - it has been lovely to see the work you have sent me based on this…..I especially liked Olivia’s Teddy Bear toast!
Please ensure that your child is reading to an adult each day, that they are practicing their phonics, working on the Common Exception words and continue to work on their pre-cursive handwriting. I have been so impressed with the children’s handwriting in all the work you have sent me - well done Year 1…keep up the hard work on that lovely handwriting! The following sites and resource will support this work at home.

This week our Home Learning Plan focus on phonic sounds ‘a_e’ as in space and looks at the alternative spellings ai/ay/a
This week’s Home Learning Plan theme is Space…lots of opportunities for some lovely work here. Year 1 can focus on designing, drawing or making their own rocket and then using super adjectives to describe their rocket in a piece of writing. You could investigate the planets, their order and find out some facts about each one. You could also investigate Tim Peake……the list is endless!
Maths - the White Rose Maths this week focus on arrays, making doubles, making equal groups and sharing. Please follow the link to the videos; remember the worksheets can only be downloaded here — not from the WR site.

I set a new challenge weekly and send out texts to congratulate those children who have taken part that week. Take a look if you haven’t had a good at these before. The children’s passwords and usernames were sent home stuck to the front of their Home learning packs back in March - but if you can’t find it, just send me an email and I will let you know. year1@our-lady.blackpool.sch.uk you can contact me for any problems/questions at this address.
