Morning All! Sorry about the problems with Education City - Mrs McVey is onto the problem and hopefully we will have it sorted out by the end of the day. Just bare with us - it is a school wide problem and not just Year 1.

In the meantime - I have signed Year 1 up to a website called Oddizzi - it is a geography site, but there are loads of lovely little activities, with comprehensions you can print out a home, if this is an option for you, plus little games and quizzes that the children can do. Each of the children is logged on so when accessing a quiz, just scroll down to find your child’s name. Just look for the following website…..

www.oddizzi.com passsword is oddizzi username OLAYear1

Just something different for the children to try. We have covered maps of the UK, cpaital cities of the UK, features of the land - human and physical, but the activities on the continents of the world are lovely!

If looking for suitable reading material try googling Pie Corbet’s reading spine for Year 1, lots of lovely and suitable texts for lower KS1 children.

Other resources you may like to look at

themathsfactor.com - Carol Vorderman’s site - she was waived the fee for this site for the time being

booktrust.org.uk/hometime - authors reading extracts of their books

wildlifetrusts.org - RSPB webiste, re-thinking their bird watching out and about activities

bbc.co.uk/bitesize - has some great ks! English/Phonics activities that the children are do now and is adding some home learning activities as of April - but the Phonics materials they have now are great - particularly whilst we sort out Education City. The RE materials on this site are worth a look too with Easter coming up, the little videos are suitable for Year 1 and the Food Friday video is lovely. I will be adding more Easter related materials as I come across them.

Much love to you all - remember to add your child’s work to Class Dojo - in the portfolio section if you can.

Keeping reading - stay safe….Year 1 be good and work hard. We miss you all.

Father Jim has added some lovely resources of the children on the CHILDREN’S PAGE of the Church website - that can be accesses through our school website by choosing the CHURCH TAB on the left hand side. Please take a look — they are fab resources to keep the children linked with Fr Jim and our Church family.
