Our learning this week…
In English we’ve been looking at an exploration narrative, which the children will use as a model for their own writing. The children have written descriptive phrases to describe the moon and the Earth to write their own contrast poems. We’ve also been looking at the job of modal verbs and using these in sentences.
Our focus in maths has been rounding numbers to the nearest 10, 100, 1000, 10000 and 100,000.
In RE we have been thinking about the Ten Commandments and have been reflecting on them.
This week’s prayer and liturgy was planned and led by Nicholas and Amara. thinking about helping others and listening to God. In the Bible reading, Jesus tells a story about a rich man who had everything he wanted, but he ignored a poor man called Lazarus who needed help. The story reminded the children that God wants us to notice people who are struggling and to care for them. It also reminds us to listen to what the Bible teaches us about loving others and doing what is right. Nicholas and Amara asked the children to think of someone who they know who might need kindness or help and think of one way they could show love or care.
“Son, remember that in your lifetime you received your good things,”
Luke16:25
In science we have been learning about the movement of the moon relative to the Earth. The children have explored the phases of the moon and have been given the task to watch the moon over the next month. If it’s visible, draw and name the phase of the moon on your moon watch calendar. Use your moon dial to identify the phase of the moon.
In Spanish we have been learning the months of the year.
In computing we have used simple operations to calculate bit patterns.
In PE the children are working with PE specialist Max from Blackpool Football Club Community Trust. The focus of their lessons this half term is hockey.

At Our Lady's we like to support our parents/carers in Online Safety matters.
Keeping children and young people safe online is one of the biggest challenges facing society today and it is all of our responsibility to ensure that children are educated to make positive, informed choices when they are online.
This month’s online safety guide gives helpful advice about…
What Parents & Educators Need to Know about FC26. This online safety guide explores EA FC 26 – the latest edition of the immensely popular football game. It flags potential risks, including in-game purchases, scams, and exposure to strangers via voice chat.
We hope you find these guides informative and helpful in promoting the positive use of technology to make the online world a better and safer place for us all. Thank you.
