We returned to school to the sad news that Pope Francis had passed away on Monday of this week. Pope Francis was a compassionate, courageous and loving leader of our Church, who dedicated his life to helping those in need and living out the values of the Gospel. In class we have had a discussion about exactly what Pope Francis has done for the Catholic Church and we watched a short CAFOD video tribute to him. May he rest in peace. 🕊

In RE this week we have been reflecting on The Resurrection of Christ and what is means for us. We talked about the HOPE it give us all: hope that we too will receive eternal life in heaven; hope that our sins will be forgiven; hope that God loves us.

Here is what else we have been up to….

In our Maths this week we have looked at the last set of SATs paper. We will use these papers to see where any gaps are and that is what I will be coving over the next two weeks in our Maths lessons. I know that there are some areas that some of the class feel they could do with a bit more revision on, so these areas will be the focus of Maths lesson, moving forawrd.

In English we looked at the Shakespeare play, The Tempest. We read over a summary of the play and watch a short video too. Mrs Ormerod then led a lesson and we performed the whole play in 20 minutes! We now know the storyline, in preparation for our visit to The Grand Theatre on Monday afternoon, where we have the privilege of watching a stage perfromance by the RSC!

In Science we continued with our topic on Light. Our focus this week was shadows. We underastand that shadows are formed when opaque or translucent objects block light. Opaqe objects create darker shadows as they do not allow any light to pass through. We then did an investigation to see how the distance of an object from a light source effects the height of the shadow that is formed. We recored our results on a table and on a graph and wrote up our analysis and conclusion.

In HRSE we recapped Online Safey. This included ways to stay online as well as cyberbullying. We then completed the end of unit assessment activity.
