A huge well done to all of Year 5 who performed at the Grand Theatre on Tuesday. You were amazing, on and off stage, and the comments we received about your performance were so positive and thoroughly deserved. I would not be surprised if one day I hear of some of you becoming actors and making a career on the stage! Well done Year 5, I’m so proud of all of you! A big thank you to all your parents too, for their support in going through lines and for all the pick ups and drop offs at the Theatre.
Our learning this week…
In English we have begun looking at a Greek myth and have made comparisons to some traditional tales and other myths and identified common themes.
In maths the children have begun looking at formal division methods and have used the short division method (bus stop method) to divide 4-digits by 1-digit.
In RE the children have identified how Saint Edith Stein showed she was pure in heart and they identified all the times that Jesus was with her in her life.
In our Science lesson this week the children have identified the life cycles of different animals: mammals, amphibians, fish, birds, insects (complete metamorphosis) and insects (incomplete metamorphosis).
Computing - This week the children have used Sonic Pi, a programming language, to compose a piece of music for one of two scenes that we have explored in Shakespeare’s play Much Ado About Nothing.
Spanish - The children have designed their own wild animal park and have identified the number and name of each species.
Our award winners:
Golden Award - Year 5 for their performance in Much Ado
The remaining rewards will be given out next week as we didn’t get time on Friday afternoon.

World Book Day at Our Lady’s - Next Friday (25th March)
A reminder that although World Book day took place nationally at the beginning of March, we are going to celebrate it on the 25th March. We would like the children to dress as their favourite character from a book. I would also like the children to bring in their favourite book to support some activities that we will be completing on the day.
Another great week Year 5, well done! Hope you all have a lovely weekend!
