Here’s this week’s home learning timetable and resources…

Timetable for 25/1/20 - 29/1/20 Please open the timetable to find clear instructions for each lesson and links to the relevant websites and audio/video clips (all additional resources below).

Please note : In line with Department for Education expectations, each child should be completing at least 4 hours of learning per day. The set work on the timetable reflects this expectation. It is also a government expectation that work is sent in to teachers to be evidenced and feedback given where necessary. Please email work to me by 1pm on a Friday so that I am able to feedback to the children before the end of the school day. I do not mind when the work is sent through the week, whether it be daily (which helps me keep on top of it), every other day or weekly, but I must have some communication with parents at least once a week. Thank you for your continued support with this.

Maths resources

TTRockstars - This week I have set up a battle between the boys and the girls which will start at 11.30am Monday and finish at 3.30pm Friday. Good luck everyone!

Please note -Scores will only be counted after 11.30 am each day to ensure that children have time to complete Maths and English work beforehand. Please also remember that there is a lesson each afternoon that needs to be completed and evidence of your work to be sent to me. It would be great if everyone can do a bit each day but I really don’t want children sitting on TTRS all day. Good luck Year 5! Thanks.

English resources

Bedrock should be completed at least twice a week. Please see this competition prize draw they have set up.

RE resources

TenTen Daily Worship prayers for home - As a family you may want to use these prayers as part of your daily worship. TenTen have also shared their weekly assembly which can be accessed at home now too…

Reading…

A reminder of links to websites where free ebooks can be borrowed to keep up with your daily reading 📚(at least 20 minutes a day):

  • You can also borrow ebooks and eAudio books from your local library. Go to https://blackpool.overdrive.com/library/youth for more information - there are some great titles that will be of interest to everyone.

  • You can also sign up to this free website, Z library ( https://b-ok.cc ), which also has a wealth of e-books that can be downloaded for free. I would encourage parents to help your child choose books as this site does not just contain children’s books.

Quizzing from home…

Once you’ve finished your book, take your quiz. Type in the username and password you use in school. You should complete these quizzes independently: https://ukhosted6.renlearn.co.uk/2241660/

Making resilient moves…

resilience.jpg

What resilient moves will you make this week? Thanks to those who shared theirs this week (see our main news page for photographs). It would be lovely if everyone could share a photo of themselves making a resilient move (it can be anything) so we can see what everyone is up to. Please email me photos of your resilient moves you make this week - year5@our-lady.blackpool.sch.uk

Additional work/resources:

These resources are completely optional. I do not expect this work to be handed in but there are some lovely activities that the children may enjoy doing.

Learning Project The theme this week is ‘Viewpoints’.

https://www.oddizzi.com/schools/login/ Compete against other members of Year 5 and see if you can get to the top of the Leaderboard in the quiz section! You could have a go at this World Explorer’s (week 3) activity pack from Oddizzi too. Username and passwords sent by email last week.

Keep up the great work Year 5, I look forward to receiving your work!

Well, it’s been a long, unexpected, week and I’m really sad that we’re not all going to be together for some time. However, I’d like to start by saying a big thank you and well done to all of you for the work that you have sent me this week. I’ve been really impressed with how hard you’ve all worked and how resilient you’ve shown yourselves to be by quickly settling into this new, but not so unfamiliar, routine. I’ve enjoyed reading your poems and I can see that you’re all striving to be your best. I am so proud of every single one of you! Thank you parents for all your support this week, it has been very much appreciated.

Computing resource - Code for Thursday’s lesson (if you didn’t save yours from last week).

TenTen Daily Worship PowerPoint- This is the shared worship presentation we will be using daily in class, so it would be lovely to follow from home, as part of your daily worship.

Reading…

Keep up with your daily reading. Aim to read for at least 20 minutes a day.📚If you’ve already exhausted the books you have at home, there are ebooks that you can borrow from the following websites:

  • You can also borrow ebooks and eAudio books from your local library. Go to https://blackpool.overdrive.com/library/youth for more information - there are some great titles that will be of interest to everyone.

Quizzing from home…

The children can now take book quizzes from home. From now on, and until we return to school, the children can take a quiz on any of the books they are completing from home (as long as they have a ZPD number). The children need to follow the link below, and type in the username and password they use in school. The children should complete these quizzes independently:

https://ukhosted6.renlearn.co.uk/2241660/

Additional work/resources:

These resources are completely optional. I do not expect this work to be handed in but there are some lovely activities that the children may enjoy doing.

Learning Project The theme this week is My Family.

#OnlineSafetyAtHome pack 1 from ThinkUKnow. Here is a parent’s guide for keeping your child safe while they are online.

Making resilient moves…

Staying home and staying safe is what we should all be doing right now and the reason we’re all working from home, but it’s also important that we do things to keep our minds healthy by doing things that make us happy. Remember that in class we talk about resilience being a way of bouncing forward through tough times. Over the weeks we are all at home, I would like you to make resilient moves and if you can, email me a photograph of you making a resilient move so that I can share them here on the website. This way we can all see what everyone is up to and stay connected even though we’re not together. I look forward to seeing them and sharing them. This week Lila sent me these photographs of her painting and then the finished piece of art - Thanks Lila, great work!

Music Logins

Miss Benson has also set you all up with individual logins for Charanga, a resource that she uses in your music lessons. I will email individual logins to each parent, via email. Miss Benson has said she will be setting tasks on this, and I will put this task on the weekly timetable each time she does. This week she would like you all to log on and have a look at some of the content.

Please remember to email photos/scanned images of the children’s work to year5@our-lady.blackpool.sch.uk for me to evidence and for feedback.

Hope you all have a great week and keep safe!

Thank you

Once work is completed, photos/scanned images can be sent to me by email at year5@our-lady.blackpool.sch.uk so I can evidence the work they have done and provide feedback where necessary. I will be in school for part of the week working with key worker children, and will therefore have less time free to check my emails. Please email me your child’s work whenever they have completed it, whether this be daily, or every couple of days, and I will do my best to respond and give feedback as soon as possible.

Thank you
