Feast of All Saints and School 70th Anniversary
Whole School Mass 1st November 2023
On Wednesday 1st November we attended a whole school parish mass in church at 9.30am. This was a great opportunity to worship and gather within the parish community to celebrate the feast of All Saints Day and also to celebrate the 70th Anniversary of our school . Parents, parishioners and past pupils were warmly welcomed to join us in the School Hall after mass for some refreshments. Well done to our Year 4 representatives for serving refreshments at this celebration!
At Our Lady's we like to support our parents/carers in Online Safety matters.
Keeping children and young people safe online is one of the biggest challenges facing society today and it is all of our responsibility to ensure that children are educated to make positive, informed choices when they are online.
This month’s online safety guides give helpful advice about…
The social media site X, highlighting the major changes since its rebrand from Twitter and the related online safety risks.
Five Nights at Freddy’s: a suspense-filled horror game which has nevertheless attracted a relatively young fan-base.
We hope you find these guides informative and helpful in promoting the positive use of technology to make the online world a better and safer place for us all.
Our learning this week…
In English the children have been sharing, editing and writing their final drafts of their own descriptions of a scene from our class text ‘The Whale’. We have also started to explore newspaper texts based on the events and characters from the story, we will continue to develop this further next week.
In Maths we have been developing our understanding of subtracting two 4-digit numbers using the column method. We have been exploring the use of bar models and the part whole models to support our understanding.
In RE the children have been continuing to work hard to grow their knowledge of a range of Bible stories. This week we have been researching the stories of David and Goliath and Jonah and the Whale. Considering ways in which they showed their strong faith and trust in God.
