This Sunday marks the second Sunday of Advent. On this day the Peace Candle, also known as the ‘Bethlehem Candle’, will be lit. The Bethlehem Candle is purple, signifying repentance and royalty. It recalls the preparations Mary and Joseph made for Jesus’ birth. As we’re getting ready for Christmas, let’s make our plans and carry them out. But, it is important not get so wrapped up in our own preparations that we’re too busy to appreciate what God is doing in our lives and that Advent is preparing us for the birth of Christ, our Saviour. Today, Fr. Frank led Year 3 in a lovely Advent reflection.

Here’s what else we have been up to this week…

In Maths, we have been multiplying and dividing by 4, 6 and 8. All children should have their TT Rockstars log in details stuck in their Reading Record. If they have not been bringing their reading record into school, it will not be stuck in. Please ensure they bring it every day.

In English, the children have written their own fables this week. I have been blown away with their story writing and creativity.

In RE, the children learned about Advent and made their Advent promises. They created their own Advent wreath and stuck their promise in the middle on the white candle. They look great!

In Science, we started planning our investigation to see whether people with a longer femur jump further than people with a shorter femur. We hope to carry out this investigation next week.

In Geography, the children did some research on the laptops to find out about their chosen European country. They have produced some lovely information posters about this.
