This week in our liturgy we have been talking about John and how he came to pave the way for Jesus. John baptised people with water when they asked him how they could follow the Lord….but told them that soon someone would come who would baptised them with the love of God. We have learnt about how at the Baptism of Jesus people heard the voice of God for the first time and how the gift of the Hold Spirit was seen through the image of a dove.
English - we have continued on with our RWI lessons. During these sessions we all focus on phonics, reading, spelling and sentence development. We have also been working on our pre-cursive handwriting in which we focus on how to write our letters, starting on the line. We are continuing to work hard on our common exception words, reading them in class every day!
Maths - this week we have continued to talk about addition and subtraction, part part wholes and fact families. We have used the three numbers from a part part whole to write FOUR addition and FOUR subtraction questions - making a little family of facts! We have looked at how the whole can go first in an addition calculation and the whole can come after the equals sign in a subtraction calculation.
RE - this week has been all about belonging as we started our new topic on Families and Celebrations. This week we focused on what groups we belonged to, what it means to belong and how we all belong to the family of God.
PLEASE SEND IN A PICTURE OF YOUR CHILD’S BAPTISM, IF THEY HAVE BEEN BAPTISED, FOR OUR NEW TOPIC BOARD. MANY THANKS.
Science - this week we have a started our new topic all about Materials. This week we focused on the difference between an object and the material it is made out of.
Geography - our focus for this half term is all about maps and the various pieces of information that different maps provide. This week we looked at aerial photographs and plans and then made a aerial plan of our classroom!
ICT - this week we continued with our programming unit, using the Bee Bots to move according to our plan. Could we move the Bee Bot from one point to another and record its movements?
Art - This week the children started their Textiles unit by having a go at some weaving!
