Although this week hasn’t quite turned out as expected, there is still plenty to celebrate. So, for this week’s blog the thought I would just share with you the things that have gone to plan and celebrate the children’s successes.
Monday - Sport’s Day! After a slight re-arrangement of dates due to the awful weather on Friday, Year 1 basked in the sunshine on Monday for our little sports afternoon. The children were fantastic, trying their hardest, cheering on their team mates and thoroughly enjoying the afternoon. I hope they enjoyed showing you their stickers and sharing their highlights with you.
Our team scores will be added to Reception and Year 2’s (when they both return next week) to give us an overall Key Stage winner. But in Year 1 the scores on the doors were……Newton 55, Clifton 58, Marton 60 and Layton 60 points. Well done to all Year 1 and congratulations to Layton (blue team!)
On Wednesday the children had a wonderful afternoon painting their rainforest animals. I think you will agree that they look amazing! The children will be able to bring these home, very carefully, once we return to school.
Year 1, we are all proud of you and your achievements this week. It is very sad that we will all be at home for the next week, but all being well we will return to school on Monday 12th July and will be able to enjoy your last week in Year 1 together. Be good next week, do some work and most importantly stay safe.
Parents, work for next week will be on the Home Learning page later today for next week. All activities can be printed off if you have a printer, or just done on paper if not. Please send all work through Class Dojo by 12ppm on Friday 9th July. many thanks. Any problems please just email me year1@our-lady.blackpool.sch.uk or send a message through dojo.
If your child develops ANY symptoms at all in the next 10 days - please get them tested. Please refer to Miss Haggerty’s text regarding symptoms in children - headaches, sickness, fatigue, runny nose, sore throat. Many thanks.
Stay safe and I look forward to hearing from you all next week….Mrs Hollinghurst, Mrs Veasey & Miss Collins
