In this Fourth Week of Advent, our final days of preparation before Christmas, we ask Christ to forgive us for our sins and, through His grace, to create us anew when He comes. This week is also a time to recollect, to reflect on our Advent journey.
We hope that this last week of Advent is filled with the Love of the Season and you feel the Love of Lord within your homes and families.
This week we have been learning…..
English - this week we wrote our own Nativity stories! The children listened carefully to the story and wrote it in their own words. The children have also completed their RWI assessments with Mrs Veasey - we have been really pleased with their progress.
Maths - this week has been all about subtraction. We have used number lines, ten frames, drawing and counters to help us.
RE - this week we have learnt all about the Advent Wreath and the signs and symbols it represents.
Science - this week we talked about how to care for a pet and what a pet needs to stay healthy. The children also completed Science assessments with me this week - I was very impressed with their knowledge!
Christmas Dinner and Jumper Day - the children had a great day on Tuesday and really enjoyed their dinner….as you can see!
On Thursday afternoon we ‘went’ to the panto!! The PTFA very kindly paid for a virtual panto, which we watched with a bag of popcorn as a treat for the children at the end of term. The PTFA also provided the children with the selection box they brought home already, along with organising a Christmas quiz! Many thanks to the PTFA - the children really enjoyed the panto, loved their selection boxes and enjoyed the quiz too. We even had a video call from Father Christmas today!! Thank-you so much to the PTFA.
The children have all worked very hard, but these are the pupils we are celebrating this week…..
Golden Award - James for working hard all term and always striving to do his best in all subjects.
Writing Award - Annie for excellent work all week on her Nativity Story
Maths Award - Ava for super subtraction work, working out how many less.
Thank-you so much for all your support this term. For all the staff in school this term has been filled with uncertainly and worry, but the the children have helped to lift our spirits each day with their beautiful smiling faces and the way that they have just adapted to the situation we are in. We can learn a lot from them! Although we are still living through an extremely challenging period, we have done our best to ensure that school is a constant for the children. Thank-you for continued support and helping to keep us all safe - it means a great deal to us all.
May we take this opportunity to wish you all a very Happy and Holy Christmas and all the best for the coming year. Let’s hope 2022 brings us a little peace. We look forward to welcoming the children back on Tuesday 4th January 2022 after a well earned rest.
Stay Safe over the festive period and an great big thank-you for our Christmas gifts; it is so kind of you to think of us. Mrs Hollinghurst and Mrs Veasey xxx
Here is our Christmas Poem - we are so proud of the children and how hard they worked. We wish you all a very Merry Christmas - enjoy!!
