Happy half-term! One half term has gone by already. the children have all worked really hard and they deserve a well earned rest. I don’t set work to do over the holidays - it is a holiday and the children need to have a rest and a play! Hope you enjoy the week - I look forward to seeing you all on Parent/Teacher Day on Monday 28th October.
As we are not in school on Friday, there are no awards again this week - we will have to do double do’s the first week back!
This week we have been learning….
English - we have been continuing with our group phonic, reading, spelling and writing work. With our handwriting, we have got as far as the letter ‘q’ with our pre-cursive handwriting.
Maths - we have been learning all about ordinal numbers this week and also placing numbers least to greatest.
Science - we have been labelling the parts of animals and seeing how animals can have all the same body parts, but look very different.
RE - we have been learning how the story of Noah is a sign of God’s peace, hope and promise for a better world. The children wrote some lovely sentences.
Topic - we have finished for our work on ourselves and our families by looking at homes from the past and what household objects look like. The children made some excellent/interesting suggestions!
Keep up the reading over the holidays and have a lovely break.
Happy holidays…….Mrs Hollinghurst and the Year 1 team
