On Wednesday Our Lady's will begin a 'One Million Minutes' Challenge which is an exciting opportunity brought to schools by award winning education charity Achievement for All.  The charity has teamed up with Peters Books & Furniture to offer the prize to the primary school class which reads the most minutes in just one week! The challenge only lasts for one week from 11th - 18th November 2015.

Children will be given special bookmarks so they can log their reading minutes at home and at school. (We will simply use our 'Reading Records' to record our minutes of reading each day) Class teachers then collate the class total each day and log it on the Million Minutes website.

All of our school has signed up for the challenge, which we hope will inspire children to read even more than they usually do throughout the whole school and increase their chances of winning! Classes can see how well they are doing and race against each other by accessing the specially designed online leaderboard known as the “Readometer”.

The class that reads for the most amount of minutes and tops the leaderboard at the end of the week, will win the exciting new reading corner packed full of books worth over £1,000, courtesy of Peters Books & Furniture.

Hopefully, if we all try really hard we may be lucky enough to win! Our children are all great at reading - and so we should be in with a good chance.

There is a letter below for parents and we will let you know how we are getting on - hopefully you can encourage your child to read even more during the course of this special week... and don't forget to record how many minutes they have read for, so it can be added to the class total!

So everyone... let's get reading!!!!
