Here are the digital copies of this week’s homework:

Spelling

Mr Whetnall’s Read Write Inc Group - oi and oy sounds.

Mrs Bowdell’s Read Write Inc Group - sh, ch and th sounds.

You could also write sentences using each of these spelling words. Don’t forget capital letters, finger spaces and full stops/question marks/exclamation marks.

English

Understanding and using question sentences worksheet. A question sentences always needs a question word (like what, who, does, could, can, why, etc) - although it doesn’t always start with a question word! - and a question mark (?) at the end. Question sentences also normally require an answer.

Maths

Ordering numbers worksheet. You need to look at the list of numbers and put them in order from smallest to largest. Remember to look at the tens first to order the numbers. If any tens numbers are the same, then you need to compare the ones of those numbers.

Counting in 2s, 5s and 10s worksheet. We have not yet begun this in class but will do so next week. It is very important that the children have some practice and experience of counting in 2s, 5s and 10s and are confident counting in these jumps.

Thank you for your continued support!

Year 2’s homework is usually sent home as photocopied worksheets/activities. However, weekly homework expectations and activities will be listed/explained on this page. I will also try to post links to download the work if children missed it by being away on Friday.

Year 2 homework is sent every Friday.

Blended/Home Learning Work will be updated on a seperate home learning page if the necessity for whole class blended learning happens. However, individuals needing home learning due to needing to self isolate should contact me on either the Class Dojo app or by email at year2@our-lady.blackpool.sch.uk and I will send a link to the google drive where you can download home learning resources.

As you know, the children were sent home handwriting practice over the Christmas break.

The laminated copy is for your child to keep so they can continue to practice their joined up handwriting at home. We will be focusing on our handwriting this term so it would be much appreciated if the children are receiving additional support with this at home. For most this may be a case of practicing their printed handwriting to begin with so they can then move on to joining their letters.

Children will be encouraged to join their letters up when they can confidently and correctly form their letters.

Spellings will be sent home with children on a Monday and will be due back on the Friday. Their spelling test will be on the Friday.

It would be a great  if you could support your child at home with their spellings, ensuring they are practiced throughout the week and returned on the due date.

Previous spellings will be left in the wallet with new spellings so children can revisit and practice their old spellings as well.

Thank you.

Please find each week's spellings (so far) attached below as word documents. I will add new spellings as attachments each time the children are given them.

In year 2, the children are responsible for changing their own home reading books - (with a little guidance from their teachers!). When they have completed a book they put their book in the reading basket ready to be changed after they have received a sticker for their bookmark.

It is important that the children are reading at home regularly in order to build on their confidence, and enable them to read with more fluency.

Please ensure that you their reading record is signed each time they read with you at home-this way the children can complete their reading bookmark and receive a reading certificate during assembly!

Every two weeks a new learning log will be sent home with the children.

This learning log will cover what we have been doing in each subject throughout the week, enabling them to extend and revisit their learning at home.

The learning log is designed as a creative way for the children to continue and enjoy their learning experience at home.
